P.M.I Gold, a Canadian gold mining company, which took over from the Resolute Amansie Limited at Manso-Nkran in the Amansie West District of Ashanti, says drilling to moderate depths on their newly acquired Obotan Mine indicated a strong presence of high-grade underground ore.

Douglas R. Macquaine, Leader of the Company’s four-member delegation, disclosed the find when the delegation called on the Paramount Chief of Manso-Nkwanta Traditional Area, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II to brief the Traditional Council on the mining activities to be undertaken in the area.

He said in January this year, P.M.I Gold commissioned R.S.C Global Consulting Limited of Perth, Australia, to undertake a preliminary concept study to review the Obotan database.

The review, he said, included previous resource models and determined the economic and technical potential for underground mining operation and it confirmed sufficient resources.

Mr Macquaine said the Consultants would also look at the possibility of gold recovery from the estimated 24 million tonnes of rocks dump at the Manso-Nkran pit.

Nana Appiah thanked the Company for taking over from Resolute Amansie Limited and appealed to them to provide the needed assistance to the communities in which they would operate and also to consider the youth in the District for employment at the mines.

Nana Appiah pledged to support the Company in the discharge of its duties.
