Delta Airlines is celebrating 100 days of its non-stop service from Accra's Kotoka International Airport to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport.

The four-times weekly flight was launched on 12 December 12 last year and has so far carried over 11,000 travellers from Ghana and the U.S. with a direct link between Accra and the financial capital of the United States of America.

According to Mr Daniel Dweteh-Agyare, Delta's sales manager for Ghana in a statement issued in Accra on Monday, he said Delta was extremely pleased with the demand for the Accra to New York flight.

“Not only does Delta offer competitive fares in the market, but also we are the only major U.S. carrier to operate a scheduled, non-stop service from Ghana to the United States. Business and leisure travellers are discovering the convenience of Delta's non-stop service which saves them time when compared to travelling via Europe, as well as a choice of connecting opportunities to more than 40 cities from New York's JFK, one of Delta's leading gateways to the United States.”

The statement said Delta was the only major U.S. carrier to operate scheduled service between Africa and the United States and in addition to the four-times weekly service between Accra and New York JFK, operates daily between Johannesburg and Atlanta via Dakar.
