A passenger on board the Ghana International Airline (GIA), which was forced into an emergency landing in Spain on Thursday says airline officials were negligent.

The passenger, Mr. Emmanuel Koranteng, who claims to have a wealth of knowledge in aircrafts said the officials of the airline knew one of the aircraft’s engine was faulty and yet they allowed it to fly.

Speaking to Joy News, Mr. Koranteng said, the officials should have postponed the flight when they detected that one engine was faulty.

The aircraft took off on Wednesday night from the Kotoka International Airport after midnight on Wednesday but returned to Accra one hour later when the fault was detected.

But the Chief Executive of GIA Capt. (rtd) Joe Boakye has refuted Mr. Koranteng’s suggestions.

He told Joy News that the crew they acted in the best interest of passengers.
