Stanbic unveils Ghana 2008 promotional billboard

Stanbic Ghana Limited has unveiled a 120 metre Billboard as part of the Bank's efforts towards creating and promoting awareness for the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Billboard, said to be the biggest within the West African sub-region, is situated at the Airport and carries the financial institution's promotional message for the 26th edition of the continent's showpiece event.

At a short ceremony to unveil the Billboard, Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director of Stanbic underscored his outfit's quest in creating energy and excitement for the competition, which is expected to be the most memorable in the 50-year history of the competition.

"This is to create awareness, the necessary mood and atmosphere of the African Championship amongst the football public."

Mr Andani said Stanbic, one of the sponsors for the competition will be responsible for creating the big match feeling before and after the competition based on the desire of the Bank to make the tourney have a lasting memory in the minds of the sporting fans.

The Managing Director said that the South African headquartered Bank has pumped about 2.1 million Euros towards the biennial fiesta and the CAF Champions League, which further confirms their commitment to the development of the sport on the continent.

Former Black Stars captain, maestro Abedi Pele Ayew who was the Special Guest of Honour lauded Stanbic's initiative of assisting to make the event a memorable one.

Ghana will host the 26th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations from January 20 - February 10.
