Some workers of a timber firm in Takoradi are opposing the take over of the company by its new owners.

The workers numbering 700, of the Western Veneer and Lumber Company Ltd., say they are opposed to the take over of the company by the new owners.

The new owner ASD Lumber bought the company after being on the divesture list for about a decade. ASD Lumber is a Ghanaian based wood and lumber company.

According to the workers, they protest the take over of the company by the new owners because their severance benefits have not been paid and their salaries have also not been paid for two months.
