The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Begoro Presbyterian Secondary School, is constructing a visitors' lounge with a canteen and SRC Secretariat for the school at a cost of 300 million cedis.

Already 200 million cedis has been spent on the project, which is about 90 per cent complete.

The SRC Co-ordinator, Mr Awuni Baba made this known at a fund raising durbar to climax this year's week long celebration on the theme: "Discipline, the bedrock of academic excellence, the role of the SRC".

Mr Awuni said for the past years, the SRC had spent 13.6 million cedis to provide public address system, signboard, ceiling fans, garden chairs and dustbins for the school.

The Fanteakwa District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, in a speech read for him by the Deputy District Co-ordinating Director, Mr John Vaadi urged the SRC to serve as a link and ensure a free flow of information between students and educational authorities to help eradicate mistrust and misinformation, which often triggered-off indiscipline among students.

Mr Caesar advised them to strive to always confer with educational authorities to resolve problems that erupt in schools rather than fomenting school disputes and disturbances.

He charged students to eschew all acts of indiscipline since they were hindrances to their academic performance.

The Fanteakwa District Director of Education, Ms Mary Animwah, noted that academic excellence could not be promoted in educational institutions characterized by indiscipline.

The Assistant Headmaster of the Begoro Presbyterian Secondary School, Mr Ohene Darko urged the students to rededicate themselves to discipline, commitment and hard work in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Ghana's independence.

Miss Millicent Asiedu a first year student of the school at the Visual Arts Department, won a "Miss PRESEC 2007" contest organized as part of the programme.
