Chris Dowouna Hammond, outgoing Agona District Director of Education has called on retiring personnel in the civil and public service to leave peacefully to ensure industrial harmony.
He regretted that some personnel who had attained the retiring age were unwilling and sometimes refused to vacate their offices creating confusion and anxiety among the workers.
Mr Hammond gave the advice at a send off party for Solomon Kwame Asoma Baidu, Central Regional Manager of Salvation Army Educational Unit at Agona Swedru.
Mr Baidu who retired this year, worked with the Ghana Education Service (GES) for 36 years.
Mr Hammond who has been transferred to Cape Coast Municipality of the GES said retirement from public service should not pose a problem but people on retirement should appreciate that they had successfully served their nation.
Ben Mensah, Agona District Chief Executive expressed appreciation to Mr Baidu for his meritorious services to the state and urged others to emulate him.
He asked Mr Baidu to put his experience and expertise at the disposal of the youth to help improve the standard of education in the district.
Major Samuel Baah, Secretary for Programme, Territorial Headquarters of Salvation Army in Accra commended Mr. Baidu for his role in promoting education in the country.
Mr Baidu expressed appreciation to the teachers and managers of the Unit for their immense contributions and assistance to him during his tenure of office.
Nana Kwao Ponsi II, Adontenhen of Agona Asafo said teachers were role models and should lead lives worthy of emulation.
