Students of Takoradi Polytechnic have served notice that they would not return to school until the principal is removed from office.
They said they are angry at the Council's disregard for their plight and a breach of trust.
They are questioning why the council has come out with a directive that they should go back to school without addressing the substantive issues.
The students insist that they will only return to the classroom if the principal is removed from office.
Speaking at a news conference organized by the Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students (GNUPS), the students said the Council has no right to call students back since both parties are still negotiating.
Last week, the Polytechnic Council fixed Tuesday July 3 as re-opening date.
But the students are calling for the removal of Dr. Apori, the Principal.
Meanwhile Joy News has learnt that the Minister for Education, Papa Owusu-Ankomah has held a meeting with the students’ union on how to resolve the stand-off at the polytechnic.
Both parties have however declined to comment on the outcome of the meeting.
The Principal of the Polytechnic, Dr. Apori has also declined to speak about the impasse except to say students should follow the directive from the council or blame themselves for any consequences of their inaction.
