The Executive Director of the School feeding Programme, Dr. Amoako Tuffuor has suggested that the scheme should be placed under the direct supervision of the Office of the President.

Dr. Tuffuor's suggestion follows reports about a rift between him and Local Government Minister, Steven Asamoah Boateng.

The programme is currently under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, and in a statement, the Minister, Asamoah Boateng observed that the Ministry would henceforth deal directly with caterers contracted to serve food.

The Minister explained that the decision to deal directly with the caterers was to inject speed into the programme, however Dr. Amoako Tuffuor, believes the body he supervises is good enough to oversee the programme and ought to be placed under the Presidency rather than the Ministry.

He does not also believe the decision to side-step his Secretariat has Cabinet blessing anyway.

He said the Programme is under threat of collapse and only an intervention by the President will save it.

Dr. Amoako Tuffuor said when a Minister of Local Government who is in charge of District Assemblies, monitoring their activities and those of District Chief Executives is at the same time directly involved in disbursement of funds to the Assemblies, it could breed corruption.
