Mr. Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive (DCE) has expressed concern about the increasing reported cases of hostile attitudes of some communities towards teachers in the District.

Such attitudes, he noted, not does only discourage other qualified teachers from accepting postings to the communities, but also affect their image.

Mr. Ofori-Donkor made the observation at the inauguration of a six-classroom block, constructed by the District Assembly under the Social Investment Fund (SIF) at the cost of GH¢75,000 (750 million cedis) at Pasoro near Adankwame on Tuesday.

The District Assembly contributed over GH¢20,000 (200 million cedis) to complete the project, which was abandoned at the lintel level.

He said the District Assembly within the last two years, with support from the government and other donor agencies, has put up 19 basic school classroom blocks.

It has also provided other educational facilities to improve quality education delivery in the district.

The Assembly has also constructed 4,000 dual desks, teacher's tables, chairs and cupboards for the schools in the area to ensure the successful implementation of the New Education Reform.

Mr. Ofori-Donkor disclosed that, more than 45 per cent of the district assembly's share of this year's common fund has been invested in education.

Mr. Benito Owusu-Bio, Member of Parliament for the area noted that, the provision of educational infrastructure to promote quality education delivery would not achieve the desired results if parents refused to encourage their children to go to school.

He advised the people to register with the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIS) to enable them have access to quality and affordable health care.

Mrs Dinah Appiah, District Director of Education, announced that circuit supervisors have been provided with motorbikes to intensify monitoring and supervision of schools and advised teachers to be dedicated to the profession.

Nana Baffour Asuman Dankwa, Pasorohene, commended the government for the provision of basic social and economic needs of the people in the area and called for unity and the promotion peace and harmony.
