Some 398 fresh students were on Saturday matriculated into the Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre, in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The number is made up of 242 men 156 women including five Nigerians, three Ivorians and one Togolese.

The matriculation ceremony also witnessed the investiture of Professor James Hawkins Ephraim as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Prof Ephraim asked for support and cooperation from both students and staff to steer the affairs of the university.

He said his vision for the university would be that "the University shall combine innovative teaching with excellence in the utilization of God's knowledge for the advancement of mankind".

Prof Ephraim promised a transparent administration that would be open to all suggestions and complaints.

He urged the fresh students to take an extra step with God by remaining disciplined, working above mediocrity for excellence and endeavour to develop a habit for critical thinking, while letting moderation underpin their activities.

Most Rev Joseph Osei Bonsu, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University, urged students to lead good lives.
