The Right Reverend Nuh Ben Abubakr, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has added his voice to the call on the government to reinstate Religious and Moral Education (RME) in basic schools.

He said education should be seen to promote the holistic development of the individual and there was the need for moral and spiritual training in addition to academic to make the individual complete.

Rt. Rev. Abubakr, who is also the Chairman of All School for Christ Ministry, said this in an address read for him at the 13th annual camp meeting of members of the ministry at Akropong, in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.

He said Ghana needed morally and spiritually upright intellectuals to be able to combine academic excellence and good moral character to speed up the nation's development.

Rt. Reverend Abubakr urged the students to lead morally upright lives to enable them become responsible leaders in future.

Reverend George Amoah, Assistant Headmaster of Osei Tutu Senior High School, said the five-day camp meeting would help train and educate the students on health issues such as HIV/AIDS, nutrition, sickle cell and the environment.

He called on people in responsible positions to lead lives worthy of emulation by the younger people.
