Ghana Education Service (GES) has appealed to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education to help expose teachers with fake certificates especially those teaching in Senior High Schools.
It has therefore asked Directors of Education to inspect certificates of teachers to prosecute offenders.
Mr Kwabena Agyemang Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, announced this at a meeting with Board of Governors of Nkoranza Senior High School at Nkoranza.
He said the directive was in view of allegations that some teachers were working with fake certificates.
Mr Agyemang Badu urged teachers to streamline their records for the success of the exercise being undertaken to enhance sanity in the teaching service.
He expressed concern about the poor performance of most of the students in Mathematics and Integrated Science in their final examination and appealed to the Parent Teacher Association to provide more books on these subjects for the school’s library.
Mr Joseph Kwaku Adjei, Headmaster of the school noted that since most of the students were day students, they failed to study at home after classes and therefore performed poorly in the final examination.
He commended the PTA for its support towards the school’s development and gave the assurance that the teaching staff would redouble their efforts to help improve the academic performance of students.
Mr Albert Edusei, Acting Headmaster of Nkoranza Technical Institute, called on parents to encourage their girls to embrace vocational and technical programmes to enable them acquire employable skills.
Mr Akwasi Owusu Sekyere, Chairman of Board of Governors urged parents to continue with their support to teachers and help improve facilities in the school.
