Hiplife Grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone had the last laugh in court on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, when he was freed of car theft charges levelled against him in 2005.

The lady who took court action against Reggie, one Peggy Martey Korley continuously absented herself from court proceedings leaving the judge with no option but to throw the case out.

“If I felt I didn’t have a case I wouldn’t have been going back and forth turning up in court. I kept turning up in court and she wasn’t turning up,” says Rockstone.

Reggie was alleged to have sold a Land Rover Discovery car, belonging to Peggy Martey Korley, who turns to be a family friend to Reggie and his late father, Saint Ricci Osei, a fashion designer who died in 2001.

Reggie had pleaded not guilty to the charge as far back as May 2005.

“My lawyers are thinking about bringing a suit against the sister (Peggy) for defamation of character. Cos it would have been different if she turned up, then we’ll see that she was interested in solving the case legitimately and I was ready to take my hit once they said I was guilty,” says Reggie. The big question is why Peggy Martey Korley took the Hiplife Grandpapa through a two-year back and forth in the courts if she wasn’t interested in dealing with the case.

Reggie Rockstone’s new album will be released 1st September alongside a Hiplife documentary.

After losing shows and contracts from several corporate bodies as a result of this case, Reggie says he has learnt his lessons about family and friendship. Perhaps it’s a good time to listen to the single Reggie released on the case declaring his innocence when tension was high.
