Sydney's controversial latest album “Africa Money”, which seeks to attack African leaders for misappropriation of state funds, has sparked trouble in a compound house in Tamale as tenants have resorted to playing the song frequently in view of alleged squandering of monies for electricity and other utility bills by the landlord.



The tenants reportedly connived to tease their landlord for such misconduct by playing the song every now and then, particularly at times when he was at home.

Some neighbours who got wind of the reason for the sudden interest in the song in that particular house confronted the landlord, urging him to analyze the song and see whether it was not in reference to his behaviour.

Upon studying the situation, the landlord, Alhaji Abu Kasim banned all the over 14 tenants from playing the song, warning that whoever defies the order faces possible ejection.

The song, he said, was being used indirectly to ‘attack’ him for mismanaging the utility bills in the house.

Beatwaves gathered that the landlord, who is unemployed, allegedly depended on monies collected for the electricity and water bills.

His directive has however caused animosity between him and the tenants, who are also threatening to take the matter up if he dared eject any of them.

Some of the tenants who spoke to Beatwaves underscored the need to enjoy their freedom after paying huge sums for rent, and expressed regret at the conduct of the landlord, who they said was treating them like infants.

One of the tenants however told Beatwaves that he only found the song interesting and never intended to use it to make mockery of Mr. Kasim.

He alleged he was once heckled by one of the sons of the landlord while playing the song one morning, but for the timely intervention of co-tenants he would have reported the matter to the police.

Alhaji Kasim, however, confirmed he had ever squandered some of the money for bills, but explained that it was due to some difficulties he encountered.

He as well confirmed restricting the tenants from playing the song in the house. According to Alhaji Kasim, the house was very peaceful, until the introduction of Sydney’s controversial song, which he claimed was being used to mock him.

He however promised to settle the impasse to ensure the house became peaceful once again.
