Touted as Africa’s best rapper, Nigeria’s M.I has heaped praises on Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie declaring that he has no competitor on the continent when it comes to rap.
M.I, born Jude Abaga, made the declaration after watching Sarkodie’s much-publicised video, ‘New Guy’, featuring American rapper Ace Hood.
The Ghanaian rapper released the video on Sunday, June 14 after the recording/shooting of the video was shrouded in controversy.
Sarkodie, born Michael Owusu Addo, was accused of misleading the public after Ace Hood publicly denied his claims that he had contacted Sarkodie to produce the song.
Ace Hood, in a tweet, revealed that he had only agreed to go ahead with the feature after the Ghanaian rapper paid $25,000.
Commenting on the video, which has been greeted with mixed reactions, M.I, also known as Mr Incredible, said the video is simply ‘dope’.
“@sarkodie1 just ended all!!! No competition right now... Fxcking dope!!!!#West #Crazy go watch New Guy@sarkodie1 featuring Ace Hood,” he said.
Another well-known Nigerian rapper, Panshak Zamani, better known on stage as Ice Prince, also commenting on the video described Sarkodie as a “Teacher”.
He said: “#Brother #Teacher @sarkodie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4MpyQub5Xc … siiiiiicccccckkkkk #NewGuy”
