The Offinso District Health Insurance Scheme has so far registered 32,677 clients since the scheme took off last year.

Bernard Opoku, the Scheme Manager, said his outfit has collected a total of 623.8 million cedis as premium from the clients and had paid 1.8 billion cedis as claims for health care services.

He said health care services were rendered to 31,334 of the registered clients.

Mr Opoku was speaking at a forum on the National HIS organised by the Centre for The Development of People (CEDEP) in collaboration with Rights and Voice Initiative (RAVI), both Non-Governmental Organisations at Kokote in the Offinso District on Tuesday,

The forum had in attendance the youth and some women groups and formed part of a nationwide project being undertaken by CEDEP to empower the poor, vulnerable and the marginalized to participate in the NHIS.

He stressed the need for residence of Offinso to register for the scheme and cautioned them to pay attention to environmental and personal hygiene for the improvement of their health.
