Junior House Officers who were dismissed for embarking on a strike action have apologised to the Korle Bu Hospital authorities for reappointment.

A statement issued to the media and signed by the Public Relations Officer of Korle Bu, Mr Mustapha Salifu said the Officers have pleaded for the hospital to reconsider employing them.

However, authorities at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital here in Accra have maintained that they will give senior house officers they are in the process of employing, priority over dismissed house officers who are calling for re-instatement.

The hospital is in the process of employing 70 senior house officers to replace their juniors who were sacked after they withdrew their services over service conditions.

Mr Salifu said positions for junior house officers will be advertised in due course. The junior house officers in a letter dated 3rd May and signed by its Spokesperson, Hilarious Abiwu apologized to the hospital for their conduct and pledged their readiness to work.

The Human Resource Manager for the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Mr Anthony Kwame Afedzi, told Joy News there are only 30 positions available to them.

“We can not take all of them because their seniors have rushed in to take the opportunity given them. All of them have applied, accepted our offer and they are starting work on Monday,” he disclosed.

APOLOGY BY JUNIOR HOUSE OFFICERS

The Junior House Officers, whose services the hospital dispensed with for embarking on a strike action, have written to apologise to the hospital authorities.

They have also pleaded for the hospital to reconsider employing them.

The hospital has, however, employed 70 Senior House Officers whose applications were pending before the strike action by the Junior House Officers.

In order to get the required number of house officers for the year, the hospital will advertise the position of Junior House Officers for those interested in the position to re-apply.

Those who would re-apply would go through a competitive recruitment exercise before they are re-appointed to fill the limited vacancies now available.
Applicants who will not be successful will be free to apply for placement at other accredited hospitals.

Signed
Mustapha Salifu
