The Food and Drugs Board has said that it had noticed with concern some unregistered toothpaste from China on the Ghanaian market and warned that it could not guarantee their efficacy, quality or safety.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Executive of the Food and Drugs Board, Emmanuel Agyarko, only seven brands of toothpaste from China had been registered by the board.

He listed them as Megafresh, Reclean, Maxam and Maxam (higher strength), whose local agent is Nyai Enterprise in Accra, Hi-Hi junior and Hi-Hi senior, whose local agent is Classfam Pharmacy in Accra and Yazz fluoride toothpaste with Lexta Limited in Kumasi as the agent.

The Board asked the public not to use any toothpaste from China except those registered by the Board.
