Lack of adequate facilities notably accommodation for health personnel are hampering effective and efficient health delivery services at the Akropong Health Centre in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti.

Dr Timothy Fant, Medical Superintendent of the Centre, told newsmen during a visit that, due to the situation, a theatre block, which hitherto had not been functional, had been converted into living rooms for some of the staff members.

He said the Centre caters for a population of 39,420 people from 24 communities within its catchment areas.

Dr Fant said work was progressing steadily on the expansion of a maternity block to cater for the numerous pregnant women who patronize it for delivery, antenatal and family planning advice.

He appealed to citizens of the area both resident and non-resident, non-governmental organizations and philanthropists to assist the Centre to enable it offer quality health delivery to the people.
