The Upper West branch of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) would this year embark on a massive education of farmers and fishermen in the region on management of snakebites with a view to drastically reducing such cases in the communities.

A press release signed by Dr Abdulai Abukari, regional chairman of the GMA, said the education programme formed part of the Association’s 50th Anniversary celebration throughout the country.

It said in the course of the year, the Association would come out with recommendations on how health professionals should be trained and equitably distributed throughout the country.

The release said the GMA would liaise with institutions such as the Ghana Education service, Regional Coordinating councils, donor agencies and other development partners for the enhancement of health programmes in the country.

It called for the participation and support of other organs, especially the media, to make the Association’s golden jubilee celebration successful.
