A statement signed by Mr. Ernest Opoku, District Co-ordinating Director at the weekend said in spite of a collective decision taken at a meeting with the district assembly and stakeholders in the transport sector, the unions had flouted the decisions with impunity.

The statement made reference to an agreement that the fare from Nkawie to Kumasi should attract 3,800 cedis, instead of 4,000 cedis but the decision had been flouted.

The assembly said it felt very uncomfortable with that development and cautioned the transport unions to ensure strict compliance with the new fares to ensure fair play.
