The Tema Oil Refinery says it is not responsible for the distribution of petroleum products to filling stations.
The Public Affairs Manager Aba Lokko was commenting on the fuel shortage that has hit parts of the capital since the weekend.
According to Mrs. Lokko, TOR’s responsibility ends once it releases products to the oil marketing companies meant for the market.
She told Joy News that the refinery has supplied enough products since yesterday to normalize the situation and wondered why there’s still shortage.
Long queues of anxious drivers, both commercial and private, have spattered fuel selling outlets in the capital since morning of Tuesday.
Taxi drivers in particular have come close to blows over the sale of petrol at the few outlets that have been selling the products. Gallon holders and queuing drivers occasionally exchange hot words over who must be served first and for what quantities.
There have been long queues of cars at various parts of the capital since the weekend, occasioned by what TOR says was a result of an operational failing.
Michael Kwasi Amoh, Manager in charge of Quality Control at TOR told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah that the refinery supplied the products throughout last week except on Friday when one of TOR’s loading arms broke down.
