The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court on Friday remanded Benjamin Asare, a 31-year-old driver and Abudu Razak, a 26-year-old scrap dealer into police custody charged with narcotic offences.

The two accused persons whose plea was not taken would reappear on April 12.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo told the court, presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that the complainants are policemen from the Akyem Oda District Police.

He said at about 0700 hours on March 4, whilst the complainants were on duty at the Akyem Asanteman police barrier, Asare and Razak on board a taxi cab with registration number GW 8572 X arrived from the Agona-Swedru direction.

The complainants suspected their movements and subjected them to a thorough search.

The prosecutor said in the process, four wrappers of a substance suspected to be cocaine and wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in the letterbox at the front seat of the vehicle.

He said the accused persons were therefore arrested and handed over to the police.
