The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah on Monday visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to wish the school children and their teacher a speedy recovery following their involvement in a lorry accident last week.

The pupils of the Etaae basic schools in the Juaboso district were involved in the lorry accident when they were returning home after participating in the March 6 anniversary parade at nearby Asempanaye in the district in the Western Region.

Two of the pupils, a unit committee member and a friend of the driver have been reported dead while 13 out of the 28 who sustained serious injuries are on admission at KATH receiving treatment.

The Regional Minister, who was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive and Directors from the Regional Coordinating Council visited Wards and polyclinic of the Hospital where they were undergoing medical treatment.

Briefing the Minister on the health conditions of the patients, Dr. Stephen Opuni, Surgeon in-charge of Accidents and Emergency Unit of KATH said all the 28 victims on admission were in stable condition.

He said most of them have suffered tissue injuries on the head, arms and elbows and that, they were waiting for the skin to be clean before grafting.

The Ashanti Regional Minister also commended the nurses and doctors for the good work done to save the life of the children and donated four million cedis to the bereaved families.

The Minister, who also presented Ghana@50 Anniversary ‘T’ shirts to the children on admission wished them speedy recovery and expressed the governments condolence the bereaved families.

Mr. Asiedu Anhwere Abrampah, Juaboso District Chief Executive (DCE) commended doctors of KATH and Asafo Hospital in the Sefwi-Wiaso district for
the prompt attention they give to save the lives of the children
