A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded Samuel Adu, a private security man for defrauding the Amansie Rural Bank in Kumasi of five million cedis.

Adu, who pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud, forgery and stealing, would be brought before the court on March 20 for sentence.

Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector R K Akoto told the court presided over by Kwabena Adutwum Mmorosah that the complainant, Joseph Osei, 67, Adu and two other witnesses in the case were all security personnel with the Universal Security Services in Kumasi.

He said in December last year, Adu, who was in dire need of a one million cedi loan approached Osei who had an account with the Amansie Rural Bank at Fanti New Town in Kumasi to introduce him to the bank to get the loan of which he obliged.

Chief Inspector Akoto said the other two colleagues, Matthew Obeng and Daniel Forkuo stood as guarantors to assist Adu to get the loan.

The prosecution said after the loan had been approved, Adu forged the documents by making the amount five million cedis and succeeded in cashing it and later went into hiding.

The deal was revealed on January 20, this year, when the complainant went to the bank to withdraw some money.

The prosecution said Adu was spotted by Osei at Kejetia, arrested and handed over to the police.

During interrogation, he admitted the offence the prosecution added.
