Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Benjamin B. Bakomora, Agona Swedru District Police Commander has warned commercial drivers especially taxi drivers operating in the district to refrain from accepting food and drinks from passengers.

He said information available at the District Police Command indicated that some criminals’ especially armed robbers were using food and soft drinks as bait on their victims.

DSP Bakomora said that two armed robbers who were jailed 30 years by a Swedru Circuit Court were found in possession of two bottles of Coca Cola allegedly laced with some drugs.

He appealed to commercial drivers to be vigilant and circumspect in their operations in order not to fall as victims to these criminals.

DSP Bakomora said the Command had adopted effective strategies to track down activities of criminals in the district and commended the Chiefs and people of Amponsah village near Agona Swedru for arresting two armed robbers who robbed a driver of his taxi cab a fortnight ago.

He called for co-operation and unity between the police and public to help curb the crime wave in the district.
