About 123 out of 290 youths have been engaged as teaching assistants in schools in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).

Another 60 youths have been employed in the health sector while 26 were engaged in sanitation and waste management.

Edward Kyei-Donkor, the District Co-ordinator of NYEP, disclosed these at a seminar on youth employment and education programme, organised by the District Assembly at Bibiani.

He said the assembly would soon engage more youths in agriculture and community policing to help combat crime in the area.

Mr Kyei-Donkor cautioned the people against politicing the programme and to allow the youth to register with the scheme so that they could be employed.
