The Assembly Member for Mamfam Electoral Area of Apam in Gomoa District, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah has appealed to the Ghana Water Company to find a lasting solution to the perennial water problem facing Apam and its environs.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah, who is also Chief Accountant of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), told the GNA the people of the area, including Mumford and Dago were assured that water problem facing them would be a thing of the past when expansion work on Kwanyaku Headworks of GWC was completed.

The Assembly member said it was about three months now since President J.A. Kufuor commissioned the rehabilitated work at Kwanyaku but water supply had rather gone worst.

He said: "What is disturbing is that officials of the company will not explain to the people why the situation has still not improve as promised."

"Water is life so anything that impeded free flow of water to the people must be eradicated,” he added.

He said buying a bucket of water for between ¢1,000 and ¢1,500 was too much for the people to bear.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah appealed to the District Assembly to arrange for water tankers to supply water to the people at a cheaper cost to prevent outbreak of water-borne diseases.
