Apostle Dr Michael Kwabena Ntumy, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, last Sunday urged Christians to guard against tribalism that he said could pose a threat to national security, peace and reconciliation.

He said tribalism had divided many African nations and had caused
many civil wars.

Apostle Dr Ntumy, who was inaugurating a 450 million-cedi Church of
Pentecost Area Schools Complex at Akyem Oda, called on Christians to
preserve the God-given peace "we are enjoying without which the country cannot develop or move forward".

He reminded Christians that they had the responsibility to be
peacemakers who should build bridges of understanding and reconciliation and leave no stone unturned to remove rancour and mistrust in society.

Apostle Dr Ntumy urged Christians to be bold and speak against ills in society and not to condone wrong doings.

Yaw Osafo-Maafo, MP for Akyem Oda, expressed worry on lynching that had characterized the Ghanaian society of late and tasked churches to educate their members on the consequences of such actions.

He appealed to Christians to aim at things that could broaden their minds and the human body and to guard against peddling falsehood as truths.

Frank Kwame Busumtwi, the Birim South District Chief Executive, urged Christians not to engage in promiscuity to help reduce the rate of
infection of sexually transmitted diseases especially HIV/AIDS.

He commended the church on its commitment to breaking the yoke of
illiteracy and ignorance in society through the establishment of first and second cycle institutions in the country.

Obrempong Affum Afronteng 11, acting president of the Akyem Kotoku
Traditional Council in an address read on his behalf called for efforts from the church and state to restore discipline in the youth.
