When Madam Korsiwor Ahiatsi informed her children that she was going for a visit and would be back soon, little did she know she was embarking on “a journey of no return”.

Madam Korsiwor, in the early hours of Friday May 18, 2007 died under mysterious circumstances hours after she had gone to visit her Nigerian friend at Tantra Hills near Achimota in Accra.

The Mile 7 Police have since arrested and placed in custody one Bright Senor, the murder suspect.

The body of the deceased according to relatives has since been deposited at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

The Tesano District Police Commander, DSP Dugah confirmed the story and said the suspect was being processed for court while Police investigations continued.

He said that until a post mortem was done, Madam Korsiwor’s death could not be considered an unnatural one, not in a case of murder.

The suspect, he said, was expected to be put before court, latest by the end of this week.

Family sources described Madam Korsiwor’s death as very unfortunate, adding “Her death is really a shock to all of us”.

Mr Sena Dagadu, an older son of Madam Korsiwor said the evening of Thursday May 17, his mother (the deceased) informed them she was going to pay a brief visit to Bright Senor (the suspect) who lived in the same vicinity and would be back soon.

Unfortunately in the early hours of Friday, the suspect came and informed one of his (Sena’s) cousins that Madam Korsiwor was in his custody and that they should not bother to look for her.

He said Senor came back to the house at about 9.30 am the same day and informed them that Madam Korsiwor was behaving strangely and that he had rushed her to a near by hospital.

“We then rushed to the hospital and found my mother covered with white cloth. Our enquiries from the hospital authorities revealed that my mother died before she was brought to the hospital,” he tearfully said.

Continuing, he said, “We quickly organised a taxi and conveyed the body to the mortuary.”

Mr Dagadu said a report was then made to the Mile 7 Police after which the suspect was arrested and placed in custody.

According to him, people who used to buy vegetables from Madam Korsiwor started pouring in to express their condolences after news of her sudden death.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that the suspect, a Nigerian might have drawn blood from Madam Korsiwor for ritual purposes.
