Mr J.B Danquah Jnr, son of doyen of Ghanaian politics, the late Dr. J.B. Danquah has threatened to take legal action against the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes.

The Moment newspaper reported that Mr Danquah is poised to carry out is threat if the Speaker fails to declare the imprisoned Member of Parliament, Hon. Daniel Abodakpi’s seat vacant by the end of May, 2007.

He said it was constitutionally unacceptable for the MP who had been tried, convicted and jailed by a court of competent jurisdiction to hold onto his seat in Parliament.

Speaking to The Moment, the NPP stalwart further challenged the Speaker to declare the seat vacant to come clear if he is not trying to condone and connive with the jailed M.P.

Mr Danquah Jnr contended that it would be illegal for a thief who had stolen from government coffers with his pen to be allowed to hang on to his seat whiles in prison.

Citing the Amoateng's cocaine saga as example, he claimed that Amoateng resigned on his own volition after so much noise from the NDC including both the former President J.J Rawlings and Professor Evans Atta Mills.

He wondered why the NDC had kept mute on their own man without uttering a word on the matter but found it expedient in embarking on a shameful demonstration in a so called solidarity with Hon. Abodakpi.
