Residents of East Legon residential area in Accra are living under perpetual fear as a result of the operations of armed robbers who have adopted the posh residential community as their operational ground.

According to the residents, the robbers usually lay ambush in cars near shopping Malls and other spots in the vicinity to monitor the movement of customers, relay information to other syndicate members who would then move out quickly to trail the victims.

Narrating his experience to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra on Friday, an International Security Expert said around 2130 hours on Thursday, he went to the East Legon shopping Mall and whiles parking, he spotted a white Mercedes Benz 180 series with four occupants, including a lady parked at a distance.

“With my security background I observed that the occupant relayed information out immediately a red Opel saloon car pulled up and started following my car.

“A third Jeep car joined the action later, I only succeeded in outwitting the gang due to my understanding of security operations.”

The security expert advised residents to watch out, especially during the black out period, observe occupants of cars behind and in front of them and take the appropriate action immediately.
