The Okyeman Environment Foundation (OEF) would mark this year's environment week within the traditional area to coincide with the World Environment Day from June 4-10.

The statement said Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panyin, Okyenhene, together with a team of facilitators would visit remote areas within the Okyeman in the Eastern Region to educate people on environmental issues to empower them to become active agents on the campaign for sustainable and equitable development.

It said the action was to ensure that communities played a pivotal role in changing attitudes towards the environment.

The statement said durbars, workshops, tree planting, creation of arboreta, formation of environment brigades and film shows were some of the activities lined up for the celebration.

The Okyenhene has been at the forefront of the campaign for a sustainable environmental development.
