Children’s Rights International congratulates Ms Edem Doreen Asiedu for winning the 2006 Human Rights Essay Competition.

The competition was organised by the United Nations Department for Public Information, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Office of the United Nations High Commission. It was on the topic: "Poverty is a Consequence of Human Rights Violation."

In a press release, the Executive Director of CRI, Mr Bright Appiah said her success has brought honour to the people of Ghana and the entire Educational System of the country.

CRI calls on the Ministries of Education, Women and Children Affairs to provide her with the platform as an ambassador to share the content of her essay to the children of Ghana to motivate them.

CRI believes that tapping into the intelligence of our children to find solution to the many problems we are facing is another alternative to poverty eradication. Ms Asiedu’s in-depth understanding of human rights must be shared with all as well as serve as an example.

CRI is a non-governmental organisation fighting for the education rights of children in the country.
