The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly is to embark on a demolition exercise between July and December.

The exercise is to clear unauthorized structures in Kasoa, Winneba, Ofaakor and Awutu Beraku to avoid floods in the towns.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Solomon Abbam-Quaye disclosed at the first session of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya Assembly at Winneba.

He said the Ministry of Local Government Rural Deployment and Environment had mandated flood prone districts to ensure that no floods occur.

The minister has therefore directed the concerned districts to, as a matter of urgency, de-silt gutters and drains in flood prone towns and to demolish buildings and structures that are in water ways.

Mr. Abbam-Quaye urged people who have buildings in waterways to move to avoid embarrassment.
