The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced Kofi Debrah, a shoe repairer to 19 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old primary school pupil at Gyewani Nkwanta in the Birim North District.

Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo, prosecuting told the court presided over by Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that the complainant, a farmer is an uncle to the victim.

He said about two weeks ago, Debrah lured the girl to his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

After satisfying himself he warned the victim not to disclose her ordeal to anybody or else she would die.

The prosecutor said on June 25 at about 2130 hours, when the victim was watching television in a nearby house, Debrah again managed to lure her into his room and started having sex with her.

The complainant on seeing Debrah in action reported the matter to the local unit committee members who rushed to the convict's room and saw him having sex with the girl.

He was arrested and handed over to the police where the victim was issued with a medical report form to attend hospital, which confirmed the act.
