Obed Kass-Yerenchi, Deputy Volta Regional Manager of the Forestry Services Division of the Forestry Commission, has called for continental and multi-agency collaboration to combat the effects of global warming and environmental degradation. He said that in Ghana rainfall pattern had changed to the extent that meteorological experts found it difficult to predict weather conditions. Mr Kass-Yerenchi said the Volta Region suffered long periods of drought last year, thus delaying cultivation of maize, yam and rice. He appealed to district assemblies to enforce environmental byelaws and promulgate new ones to enhance environmental protection.
