The Presiding Member of the Mfantseman District Assembly, Nana Ataapim Kweenu VIII, has appealed to industrial establishments to open their doors to tertiary students for practical "on-the-job" training.

Nana Kweenu, who is the Chief of Woraba near Cape Coast and Mankrado of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, noted that this would help them to meet advertisement requirement for recruitment, which often ask for practical experience.

He made the call at an Award Night organized by the Mfantseman District Secretariat of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) at Saltpond for 137 personnel who had completed their one-year service in the District.

Nana Kweenu stated that the best way to develop the human resource capacity of the country was to recruit young people to groom and nurture their talents to gain self-confidence for the growth of organisations.

He urged organisations to stop enticing workers trained by other establishments under the pretext of looking for experienced people.

Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive (DCE), reminded service personnel that their schooling was meant to expose them to the realities of life and how best to find solutions to organisations them.

He urged them not to get discouraged about actions when confronted with problems.

The DCE expressed regrets that many people did not apply things they had learnt into practice and assured them of the Assembly’s support.

Mr. Abraham Ato Ahinful, a Business Executive, advised the personnel against looking for big positions but to strive to start from a modest beginning.

Mr George Gado, National Volunteer Coordinator, congratulated the personnel for their excellent service to the people and urged them to carry the "same vim" to their next places of work.

Mr. Alfa Atia Alpha, District NASPA Coordinator, reminded the personnel of the challenges ahead of them and advised them to be resilient when confronted with problems.

Miss Priscilla Abiba Paintsil, President of the group appealed to District Assemblies to allocate a portion of their common fund to National Service personnel for their activities.

Nana Araba Otua of Mankessim presented awards to deserving personnel.
