A 16-year-old boy was on Monday convicted by the Tema Circuit Court 'A' for stealing 21 phones valued at 40 million cedis.

He was convicted on his own plea of being guilty on two counts of conspiracy and stealing and the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu referred him to a juvenile court for sentencing.

Haruna Issifu and Yakubu Mohammed both unemployed, charged together with him were remanded to re-appear on September 9.

Issifu and Mohammed pleaded not guilty to the same charges.

Police Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah said Mr Ebo Abraham, a phone dealer detected the theft of 21 phones from his shop.

She said during interrogation, the boy told police that Issifu and Mohammed placed him on the shop's roof where he created a hole and entered.

He passed the phones to Issifu and Mohammed who pulled him out of the shop. He was given one of the phones but police have not retrieved any of the phones.
