Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, on Friday admonished Christians to promote Christian values and principles towards national development.

He said the country needed reformed Christians, who would practice Christian values to help check moral decadence and not just those who would go to Church.

"People go to work at 9 am instead of the official time of 8am and close at 4pm instead of 5pm, but we don't consider this as sinful. We take money for the hours we have not worked for and this practice ought to be stopped," Mr. Baffour-Awuah said.

He was speaking at the official opening of the 4th Biennial/52nd Connexional Delegates' Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Sunyani.

The conference, which was under the theme: "Turning Our Mission And Vision Into Action," attracted 15 delegates from different parts of the country.

Mr. Baffour-Awuah charged the delegates to intensify their evangelism to win more souls for Christ and expressed disgust that instead of serving the people, some leaders lauded it over others.

Opanin Nwanwaso John Quacoo, the Connexional President said the only way the Church could win more souls was by approaching its evangelism practically.

In an address read on his behalf, the Most Rev. Dr. Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, urged the delegates to focus on winning more souls for the Church instead of being materialistic.

He suggested the establishment of a Methodist Development Fund to facilitate the development of the Church nation-wide.

Dr. Aboagye-Mensah advised Christians to eschew occultism, indiscipline, corruption, sexual promiscuity and indecent dressing.

He urged them to vote for candidates who would have the welfare of the people at heart during the next general elections.

The Very Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, Head of Department of Religious Studies of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, entreated the delegates to work harder towards the development of the Church.
