Mr. Kwame Baffoe-Duah, assemblyman of Yeboasa electoral area, a suburb of Nkwabeng in Nkoranza district of Brong-Ahafo has expressed concern about the upsurge of Indian Hemp smoking among the youth of the area.

Mr. Baffoe-Duah told the Ghana News Agency at Nkwabeng that the community leaders had taken a number of strategies to halt the practice but to no avail.

He explained that the culprits were mainly unemployed youth whose attitudes had also resulted in increase in crime wave in the comminity.

He appealed to the security agencies to help clamp down on the smokers.

In another development, Mr. Baffoe-Duah has commended Mr. Daniel Agyarko, Nkoranza district environmental health officer for
carrying out intensive educational campaigns in promoting environmental sanitation among the people of the area.

He noted that the educational campaign had helped change the attitudes and conducts of the people towards poor environmental
sanitation and said the major challenge that faced the communities
were how stray pigs moved about and caused nuisance in the communities.

Mr. Baffoe-Duah said Mr. Agyarko had formed a task force to
catch stray animals in the communities and their owners would be made to face the full rigours of the law.
