Pope Benedict the XVI has bestowed apostolic blessings on Professor Comfort Charity Atuahene of the Animal Science Department at Kwame Nkrumah University for Science and Technology for her charity and benevolence to the needy in society.

A citation, which contained the Papal blessing, described Professor Atuahene, who is also the National Women Representative on the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Lay Council, as a selfless woman who had devoted most of her time and resources to the benefit of the needy, especially deprived children in her community.

The Papal blessing was requested by Reverend Father Samuel Danso, a Seminarian in Rome, who had over the years observed the tremendous assistance of Professor Atuahene to the needy and poor children.

The citation was presented by Reverend Father Stephen Duodu on behalf of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Reverend Peter Akwasi Sarpong.

The ceremony was witnessed by Reverend Dr Isaac Forkuo, Kumasi District Minister of the PCG and Reverend Obeng Agyei, Resident Minister of Bomso Presby church, where Professor Mrs Atuahene worships.

Professor Mrs Atuahene thanked the Pope for bestowing honour on her.

She said she did not know that some people had been watching her charitable services to the needy and urged wealthy people in society to always assist the needy in society.
