The chiefs and people of Kyekyewere in the Atwima Mponua District have appealed to the district assembly to institute bye-laws to ban children from attending video shows, concerts and funerals especially at night.

The ban should also prevent saw-millers in the area from engaging children as labourers in their saw-mills.

Nana Adusei Poku, chief of the town, made the appeal when Mr. Wilberforce Owusu Ansah, District Chief Executive, visited the area.

Nana Poku said, "The ban would eliminate immorality among the youth, early sex and promote education in the area."

Mr Ansah said the town was among 37 communities that would be provided with electricity in 2008 and that 400 boreholes would be drilled in communities including Kyekyewere by the end of 2007.

Ha said Nyinahin-Junction-Achiase feeder road has been awarded on contract and appealed to the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme.
