The Anyinam police have arrested a young man, nick-named Shito from Akyem Enyiresi in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region, for allegedly killing his rival, Kwasi Blackie.

Narrating the incident to The Heritage, which was corroborated by the police, the Assemblyman for Enyiresi, Solomon Asiedu Kotwe said, the deceased, Blackie detected amorous relationship between his wife and the suspect, Shito, and warned him several times to desist from such act but to no avail.

Last Friday, November 30, Blackie, who lived in a different house from the wife, paid her a surprise visit in the night only to meet Shito in her room. He immediately confronted Shito where a scuffle then ensued between the two.

According to the Police, residents in the house who heard the unusual noise quickly intervened and separated them.

Not satisfied, Shito attacked Blackie again on the street and allegedly pushed him violently on the ground and assaulted him, making his head crash on the ground killing him instantly.

He is now being held at the police station pending the outcome of an investigation.

Shito who wanted to escape was apprehended by the youth around and handed over to the Anyinam police. The body of Blackie has been deposited at the Atibie Government Hospital while the police con¬tinue with their investigations.

In another development, a popular Khebab seller at Akyem Oda, Issifu Abubakar, was last Friday night lynched at Atutumere near Oda for allegedly stealing a goat. According to the police, there has been rampant stealing of livestock in the area in recent times, so the people formed a watchdog group to guard the town.

On Friday, November 30, this year, Abubakar, together with two others now on the run, were spotted in the night chasing some livestock. An alarm was raised but two of his accomplices managed to escape. Luck however, ran out for Abubakar who had already killed a goat in his sack. The people therefore pounced on him and lynched him.

The body of Abubakar has been deposited at Akyem Oda Government hospital while most of the youth at Atumtumere have fled the town for fear of arrest and prosecution.
