The two British teen girls convicted for drug offences in Ghana are now to be sentenced January 9.

The trial court is awaiting a social services report of the profile of the convicts to decide their punishment.

The two school girls were arrested at the Kotoka International Airport in July with two cocaine-stashed laptop bags.

They claimed they were not aware that the drugs, said to be worth about £300,000, were in their luggage.

Officers of Ghana's Narcotics Control Board have said the girls were being paid £3,000 each to carry the bags on a flight to Britain and that their tickets were bought by men who also paid for the girls' accommodation and food in Ghana.
