A Tema Circuit Court on Monday granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with two sureties each to five Nigerians, suspected to be internet fraudsters.

The five are Patrick Archibong, Aniekom Olumba, Vincent Dennis, Franklin Anana and Gabriel Ojugo.

They pleaded not guilty to three charges of possessing items used for committing crime, forged official stamps and documents. They are expected back in court on January 9, 2008.

The court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, heard that the accused were arrested in a swoop on December 1, 2007, as part of measures by the Tema Regional Command to clamp down on criminal activities in the metropolis.

The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Duuti Tuaruka, said a search on the five revealed four stamps bearing marks of Office of the President, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Bank of Ghana and International Commercial Bank Limited.

Police also retrieved cash of GH¢25,200, 2,900 dollars, a Ghana Exchange Control Form 'A2' used for exports, one desktop PC and five notebook computers connected to the internet.

DSP Tuaruka said the case was still under investigations and that internet experts had been invited to critically examine the documents on the computers.
