John Thompson, fisherman, 28, was on Friday granted GH¢500.00 bail by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly threatening to slash his mother with a cutlass.

He pleaded guilty and pleaded with the court to forgive him and promised that he would not do that again.

"She is my mother how can I slash her with cutlass?" he asked.

He was convicted on his own plea but sentence was deferred to enable him reconcile with his mother and to re-appear on January 7, 2008.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that Thompson lived at Ankaful while the mother stayed at Essuekyir, a suburb of Cape Coast.

He said on December 15 this year, Thompson visited the mother in her house, and whiles there, he gave his clothes to his younger sister to wash but his mother told him that the girl was too young to do that kind of work.

Chief Inspector Amonoo said this infuriated Thompson and he rained insults on her and threatened to slash her with a cutlass.
