Five workers in police grips for stealing metals

A circuit court in Cape Coast, on Wednesday convicted five workers of the SPAANS BACKOK Company for allegedly stealing metals worth GH˘200.00 belonging to the company.

Abubakari Sadique, Richard Arhin, Solomon Takyie, casual workers, Victor Sagoe and Kwasi Dadzie, security men, who pleaded guilty were each granted GH˘1,000.00 bail.

They were convicted on their own plea but their sentences were deferred to Tuesday February 19, 2008.

Superintendent Cyril Akom, told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that the casual workers conspired with the security personnel to steal the metals worth GH˘200.00 from the company’s store.

Superintendent Akom alleged that the security men on duty looked on while the casual workers stole the metals.
