Reports from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital say popular actor, Kwame Owusu-Ansah has died.

He died at about 4 pm on Friday, of injuries sustained in an accident on the Tema Motorway on Thursday night.

Owusu-Ansah is said to have sustained serious head injuries in the accident and was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Reports say doctors are not confirming his death but family members told Joy News that frantic efforts are being made to reach his mother.

Amidst tears however, Joy News'Seth Kwame Boateng confirmed the death.

He said the body is currently at the morgue.

Following the accident some reports indicated that doctors had hinted that Owusu-Ansah's chances of survival were very slim.

But family members remained optimistic.

According to the reports, the actor was travelling alone in his Toyota Camry when his car ran into a cargo truck ahead of him on the Accra-Tema Motorway on Thursday night.

Before he was taken to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, he was first sent to the Tema General Hospital.

His car is reportedly mangled beyond repair.
